Seed IP Law Group LLP names three new partners

Effective January 1, 2020, Syed M. Abedi, Justin E. Coe, and Michael P. Cooper became partners of Seed IP Law Group LLP. Syed is in Seed IP’s Mechanical Engineering, Trademark, and IP Enforcement, Defense & Litigation Groups; Justin is in the firm’s Electrical Engineering & Computer Science Group; and Michael is a member of the firm’s Biotechnology, Pharmaceuticals & Chemistry Group. All three attorneys specialize in U.S. and foreign intellectual property matters, including patent procurement, licensing, and strategic planning.

Syed Abedi’s practice is focused on U.S. and international patent and trademark prosecution, enforcement, licensing and litigation matters. He received a B.Eng in Aerospace Engineering from Ryerson University (2000) and a M.Eng. in Aerospace Engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (2003), where his graduate research focused on acoustic emissions monitoring of space shuttle external tanks. Syed earned his J.D. from Seattle University School of Law (2012), where he graduated magna cum laude. He is admitted to the Washington State Bar and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Syed is a member of the Washington State Patent Law Association, and serves on the Non-Traditional Marks Committee of the International Trademark Association (INTA).

Justin Coe's practice is focused on U.S. and foreign patent prosecution of electrical engineering, electronics and computer software matters, including patent procurement, prosecution and strategic portfolio management. He received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Portland State University in 2007, and a J.D. from the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law in 2010. Justin is admitted to practice in the states of Washington and Arizona, and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He is a member of the Washington State Patent Law Association (WSPLA).

Michael Cooper's practice is focused on U.S. and foreign patent prosecution of chemistry and biotechnology matters, and related litigation matters. His expertise includes patent matters pertaining to pharmaceutical and chemical technologies. Michael’s practice includes U.S. and international patent preparation and prosecution, freedom to operate and patentability analyses, and intellectual property due diligence. He has experience with a variety of technologies including small molecule pharmaceuticals, formulations, materials science, and semiconductor fabrication. Michael is admitted to the Washington State Bar and the Missouri State Bar and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He is a member of the Washington State Patent Law Association (WSPLA).
