Celebrating World Intellectual Property Day – April 26
On April 26 of each year, World Intellectual Property Day is celebrated in countries globally. Established in 2000 by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the event helps to raise awareness of how patents, trademarks, and designs impact our daily lives. It is a day to celebrate the creativity and contributions made by inventors, creators, and innovators that directly affect the development of societies and economies on a global scale. The date of April 26 was chosen to coincide with the day of WIPO's establishment in 1970.
On this day, as we celebrate all scientists, inventors, and innovators, we would like to thank our many, loyal clients and our valuable team of employees — all of whom come together to help make the world a more efficient and convenient place for all mankind through innovation.
On April 25, in Tokyo, Japan, Seed IP attorney Dr. Toshiko Takenaka is scheduled to deliver the keynote speech at the 2023 World Intellectual Property Day Event. Toshiko's speech is entitled, "Global Common Sense on Diversity and Inclusion," focusing on the impact of diversity in leadership for high-tech firms and technology startups by sharing empirical studies to evidence positive effects on innovation. The 2023 World IP Day event, hosted by WIPO-Diversity and Innovation and organized by World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Japan Office, takes place at Iino Hall (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo). This year's theme is "Women and IP: Accelerating Innovation and Creativity."
