Two law students earn prestigious Seed IP Law Group Founders Scholarships

Law students Henry C. Lenaburg (University of Washington School of Law) and Tian Yong Zheng, Ph.D. (Seattle University School of Law) were recently selected as the recipients of Seed Intellectual Property Law Group’s Founders Scholarships for the 2024-2025 academic year.

In 2023, Mr. Lenaburg received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Washington. He plans to receive his J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law in June 2026.

Dr. Zheng received a B.S. from Peking University (Beijing, China) in 2011, and a Ph.D. from Dartmouth College in 2017, both in Biological Sciences. She anticipates receiving her J.D. from Seattle University School of Law in December 2026.

For more than 20 years, Seed IP has granted two annual scholarships to honor its founders, Richard W. Seed and Benjamin F. Berry. Seed IP awards one Founders Scholarship to a law student at the University of Washington and another at Seattle University to recognize individuals exhibiting a keen, dedicated interest in intellectual property law. "Seed IP has long benefitted from the talent of the two schools’ graduates, and we are proud to continue supporting both universities in their efforts to educate the next generation of world class intellectual property specialists," says Kevin S. Costanza, Seed IP’s Managing Partner.

On April 10, 2025, Seed IP Law Group hosted its annual SU/UW Attorney-Student Networking Reception. During this reception, a commemorative award certificate was presented to Mr. Lenaburg and Dr. Zheng. Many other IP law students from Seattle University School of Law and the University of Washington School of Law were also in attendance, allowing the students an opportunity to interact and network with a large number of attorneys from Seed IP Law Group.

Seed IP congratulates Mr. Lenaburg and Dr. Zheng on receiving the 2024-2025 Seed IP Law Group Founders Scholarships!
