Seed IP sponsors 2022 Global Innovation Law Summit - July 22 and 29
Seed IP Law Group is proud to sponsor the 2022 Global Innovation Law Summit (GILS), taking place on July 22 and 29, 2022, as part of the annual Center for Advanced Study & Research on Innovation Policy (CASRIP) program.
University of Washington School of Law’s Prof. Toshiko Takenaka, Of Counsel, Seed IP Law Group, will be moderating certain GILS panels on both days. Also scheduled to attend is Seed IP partner, Jianping Zhang.
Highlights of the 2022 Global Innovation Law Summit (GILS):
A NEW CHAPTER FOR THE GLOBAL PATENT SYSTEM - Two major global patent events will mark Fall 2022 and Spring 2023: In Europe, the Unified Patent Court (UPC) and Unitary Patent (UP) will have been in force for nearly a decade. In the U.S., the First-Inventor-to-File (FIFT) system will celebrate its tenth anniversary since it was launched on March 16, 2013.
July 22: Unified Patent Court and Unitary Patent System
Part 1 of the 2022 Global Innovation Law Summit will reflect on the origins of the UPC and UP and explore the pros and cons of the new European system in comparison with those of the U.S., Germany and the U.K. (Prof. Toshiko Takenaka is moderating the Keynote Speech from 8:35 - 9:35 a.m.)
July 29: Patent Reform 201: America Invents Act
Part 2 will review the past ten years since establishment of the FITF system and the roles of the PTAB in patent enforcement to examine the necessity of further reform of the U.S. patent system. (Prof. Toshiko Takenaka is moderating the Panel Discussion from 4:30 - 5:40 p.m.)
